The European Patent Office has published the annual statistical report on the patent filings.
In 2019, the EPO received over 181 000 applications, 4% more than in 2018 and achieved a new all-time high. Digital communication (+19.6%) and Computer technology (+10.2%) are the top fields: the rise of digital technologies!
Patent applications filed by University reached 10%.
